The whitelist

So we've introduced a whitelist on the server so that it's no longer full of randoms. This may well be unpopular with a few people (read: the randoms) but we've done it for a reason. The server was never meant to be a public server, it's a playstuff community server. The server takes a huge amount of resources to run (it uses more system resources than 1 TF2 server and 4 L4D2 servers combined), so if you want in you need to be a part of the community. Simple as really.

If your name's not on the whitelist and you think it should be then you can post in this thread. Just post your minecraft user name and any other name we may know you by, nothing else. This is very important (I underlined it, see). Posting anything else will result in your post being deleted.

Following admins discussion on vent.... we're locking this thread. We have a large number of players now whitelisted. This wasn't intended as a 'post here and you'll be added to the whitelist' thread. It was for known members to request they be added. Most of the posts here are just 'applications' from newcomers.

The whitelist was created to restrict the server to known community members. It takes time to get to know the community - and you do so by interacting on the forum and providing interesting input. You will no longer be able to 'Apply' to the whitelist - you must get to know us. When you know us, it will be no effort at all to come and play minecraft with us.

Yeah i would actually like to suggest to maybe open up the playstuff server again. Because nowadays its always empty, there are rarely people on the minecraft server.
We could keep griefers out by adding restrictions to use of lava for example for non-regular players. Or even go as far as giving everyone who is trusted enough simple admin powers (kick, ban etc)
And i've seen a dutch server use a mod that allows admins to set a restriction for build areas from in-game, and then give the rights to the one who is building there, so he can decide who-ever can build on his castle aswell and keep unwanted people out. By adding the restrictions you kinda force people to go on the forums to become a regular, because everyone wants to play without restrictions, but at the moment only few people can play on the server and the server is kinda dead.

I think all you would need to do is restrict the use of fire to known trustworthy members
