I've told you in chat how utterly epic this is but here it is in writing.
Creating a sign with #POI in the text will mark it as a point of interest. Once the map updates, (Usually each hour or two), your sign will be marked out on the map with the full sign text.

Feel free to post any more suggestions for the #tag in signs. I was considering disabling the display of /home locations, instead you would use a #home in a sign and it would be marked out.
This would have the benefit of not displaying random icons when people are using /home for building purposes and actually being their house. The downside would be it won't update instantly, it would update every either 1 or 2 hours when it gets processed.
Thoughts?
Would be nice to have nether gates marked for when they're functional, but it's not something to worry about until they're working.

[UC] Boylee is in an unknown country.
There has been a fix merged into the current branch fixing the issue relating to the squares appearing in water (the fixed water is visible in top left of map), due to caching the changes will not be immediately visible everywhere.
The map currently caches and is only updating areas where blocks have been changed, this means the water will only re-render fixed where people have built changes, forcing a map update in that area.
Is it just me or are the annotations (such as the /homes, warps and #POI's) no longer visible on the map?

I'm fiddling with it at the minute so if things break, give it a minute and refresh
I find it interesting how people have gone alot further north and south than east and west, and with the exception of west, people have stuck to the compass directions from spawn pretty much

Sounds great. I for one do not have a house yet, so the current /home location is misleading. Also this will facilitate people being able to stay 'off the radar'.

Done! Making a sign with "Jim's Palace! #home" will display a home icon with Jim's Palace when you mouseover.
wow, not sure on the player icons, far too big when at all zoomed out :/
