    Battlefield 1

Stupid name, but a nice cinematic.

Whether you love it or hate it, another Battlefield is coming - I wonder how many of us feel like we've been stung too many times?

EDIT: There seems to be embedding issues atm - link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7nRTF2SowQ

    Re: Battlefield 1

I'm interested. Hardline wasn't made by Dice, and the concept was always bound to fail imo.
Battlefield 4 didn't actually turn out that bad in the end.
I like the feeling the trailer gives off, however, much like 3 and 4, I probably won't be getting this until it has been out for a while and is 'fixed'.

    Quietly optimistic.

Battlefield 4 turned out great in the end honestly, and if we're lucky all the netcode work that DICE LA put into fixing BF4 will be carried forward into BF1. I'm audibly optimistic.

Pre-ordered, Open Beta starts 31st August. Plenty of clips on youtube from the alpha map and now the new desert map recently played at Gamescom 2016...

It might be too late now, but if you had signed up to the battlefield insider program before the 21st, you get early access to the open beta:

    Also why pre-order?

Why am I only finding this out on the 22nd?

The one thing that always annoyed me about BF4 was the way they split up the player base with premium DLC, doing so just causes so many problems for a multiplayer game.

I would expect that to happen again tbh, it seems to be the expected model for battlefield now.
Really, if you can resist buying into it, waiting for the inevitable Premium edition will be the best choice as it will give you everything the game has to offer (it's what I did for BF4 and was well worth it, still is, really).

That would be fine, if we had a Playstuff embago - the issue being that if half of Playstuff buy it and then get bored of it by the time the all-in-one version comes around then (for me at least) it's pointless picking it up.

I'm not sure I really want to get it at all - I dislike certain features of the level-up tree which can put you at a significant disadvantage if you've not put 25h+ into the game (looking at you reactive armour).

Saying that, it'll be interesting to see how they deal with this in the historical setting...I'm not sure what was considered OP in WWI - reach level 95 for chlorine gas or something.

Perhaps a revisit to BF4 is in order?

    Re: Battlefield 1

I think the last battlefield I played properly was bad company 2 (I probably put less than 10 hours into battlefield 3), so I would quite happily pick 4 up if it's reasonable to join you guys.

So...apparently this game is really, really good.

    Re: Battlefield 1

Wasn't a big fan of the early access, didn't even use my 10 hours up. So nope, didn't get it.
That's not to say it isn't good, it is fairly fun, but it is very similar to BF3 and 4 (despite the thematic overhaul), with some bizarre crate opening meta'game' thrown in for good measure.

I mean, really, there's better value in the premium edition of BF4 at this point, still plenty of people playing, it has a heck of a lot more maps, weapons, vehicles etc, and the experience is very similar (basically just motorbikes instead of cavalry)

Might get it later on in it's life when they make a 'Premium Edition' at a reasonable price, as with BF4.

I suppose the only issue is as Seric explained earlier, lots of people play now then get bored by the time the game is cheaper.

    Re: Battlefield 1

Yeah, I have it, along with a few other playstuffers. Really quite enjoying it so far, although some bugs and balance to be worked out yet. I didn't particulary enjoy the "beta" thing either, but I'm loving the game now. Operations are fun, they've gone for cinematic feeling over side balance. It's a great way to achieve those battlefield moments where you feel like movie hero.
