    You already know that it's a WC3 engine feature, but then you ask whether it's specific to Dota 2?

    I believe Pseudo Random Chance is the system that DotA1 [This is the stuff built into WC3]...

    The simple version is that this system [I'm assuming "this system" is the "new proc mechanic"][I'm also assuming this is not built into WC3, since it's new...and WC3 is not ] will make sure that it will proceed closer to the number of times it is supposed to in a certain amount of attacks (So, it will be closer to once every four times if it has a 25% chance of activating a crit).
    ...
    TL;DR - Makes % chance things proceed more consistently.
    So my question is, this "new proc mechanic" (which has improved upon the default WC3 engine),
    is it a dota2 only feature? or have they somehow replaced the WC3 stuff?

    Oh I get what you're saying now

    Dota 2 actually always used a proc mechanic that was completely random (25% actually really being 25%), it never used the Dota 1 pseudo random mechanic.
    I'm not sure why Dota 2 never had it the way Dota 1 had, but they just simply implemented it this patch to be like Dota 1.

    So when I said "new" I meant new to Dota 2
    Actually being a normal DotA 1 feature.

    Not convinced on the death prophet or especially the silencer colour changes. :/

    Silencer has been my favourite hero for a long time (before the remake), and I'm loving this dark purple change, looks totally bad-ass
    I hated the test bright-purple one, but the darker one is awesome.
    Also it has a "meaning" behind it, apparently purple + gold is a "royal" colour combination, that's why they chose that
    So cool meaning and it looks cool xD

    Not too sure about DP myself, Wisp is fine

    Yeah, purple is apparently hard dye to make, so has often been a royal colour

    Still, the one I saw (wouldn't describe it as "dark" though, so may have been the previous one) was hideous.

    First, they put him with the brighest, most garrish, shade of purple I ever seen and people (obviously) hated it.

    Later a less bright, more regal version of purple appears and people are so happy with Valve's decision they forgot that at some point he was Red.

    Dragonknight is either a dragon or has a sword, Silencer is not a dragon and doesn't have a sword.

    I don't see how people could get confused unless they are very new - in which case they don't know any of the heroes anyway. :S

    • Very very similar helmets

    Seems like a logical design change to me

    Also it ought to be remembered that not everyone is playing with flashy graphics. In Wondwi's minecraft-inspired travesty it's probably hard to tell the difference between a tower and Roshan, let alone two similar-ish characters.
