    PL_Crag

    PL_CRAG_EVENT_B



    Created for the 72 Hour Contest between 6-27 and 6-30-2011. Was tested halfway but the elevator in the map crashed the server. So technically, it never got tested until it entered the contest. Surprisingly, it plays okay from the one 20 minute test I've had of it.

    One stage, three point payload map. No real story or anything. Just Blu trying to blow up a bomb by Red's base for whatever bizarre reason they have. I think the cliff thing at the end can be classified as a crag. If not. whatever. I'll add one whenever. I like the name.

    HALLOWEEN EDIT: Map has been Halloweenified for the Night of the Living Update.

    I had made a really cool one for this map, though. It went down and sat at the bottom while some setup doors opened. So the attackers had to disperse for a bit so they didn't get mass murdered by the defenders while sitting on the cart. I thought it had the positive effect of taking the emphasis of the cart for a little bit. Unfortunately, it was broken. But not anymore! Booj fixed it, so I'll be re-adding it.

    Sounds a bit like the pause while the bridge raises in pl_thundermountain stage 1, which I think is a good idea as it makes the battle for 1-2 a bit more interesting - red get a little breather to respawn and prepare, blu have to either disperse or push and stop defences forming. Hope it works out on this

    So, I wasn't entirely satisfied with my Justice timelapse of me making a map, so I made a new one. 13:47 minutes long with text commentary (so it's a bit easier to tell what's going on) entirely to Sex Machine by Sly and the Family Stone.

    Enjoy.

    Played this earlier this evening, and I really enjoyed it. Some people thought that it was imbalanced and too easy to attack - I can't say that I noticed this, and we managed to hold out for a long time once we got our game together. A couple of guys said that you could snipe right into the BLU spawn (again, I didn't notice this), which you may want to look at. There was also a large issue with the cart before the first point (I think) - it got stuck, seemingly for no reason, and BLU had to back away until the cart began to roll back, then start pushing it again.

    Overall I thought it was a great map and I look forward to playing it again!

    The problem with the cart getting stuck was the building next to it. There is a shack right next to the first hill you go up with the cart as attackers. If you stand in that shack you block the cart from moving further.

    Oh bugger, I knew about this issue from before and forgot to fix it. I'll have to do that now. Thanks for pointing it out again.

    Nooo, that is an issue, but the cart also gets physically stuck.



    This has happened twice that I've seen. It won't move, despite what it says at the bottom. You have to back away from it long enough for it to start moving back down the track, and then it works.

    Ah, it's getting stuck on the displacement. That's an easy fix. Weird that it never happened when I was doing runs of it.

    I don't know if it's relevant, but I've seen such "stuck cart" in official maps - for example goldrush. Are you sure it's map's flaw?

    It likely has to do with a displacement on goldrush as well that the cart gets stuck on. It's probably just a bug that Valve has never bothered fixing.

    Should have a release out within the hour that fixes any problems with the cart. In the meantime go vote for crag here!
