    pl_corrode

    Version: RC1a





    CLICK DIS TO DL

    PL_Corrode is a single stage Payload map in the style of Badwater/Upwards. It has four "sections":

    1. Exterior of "Hydroelectric Plant"
    2. Interior of "Hydroelectric Plant"
    3. Flooded Basement/Secret Deteriorating Lab
    4. Deteriorating Nuclear Reactor


    The goal of the attackers is to blow up the defender's Nuclear Reactor.

    COMPLETION LOG

    Main layout: Done.
    Sealing: 100%
    Entities (Cart, Door, Spawn): 100%
    Clipping: 100%
    Health/Ammo Packs: 100%

    Est. Completion Date: Jan 29st

    Spawn Rooms/Logic Entities/Payload are all done. All that's left is clipping and health/ammo packs. Also bumping up the completion date to tomorrow.

    CHANGES:


    Added a hole into the silo closest to bluespawn near CP 1
    Added a ramp onto said hole on blue's spawn side.
    Added a ramp/barrier in front of bluespawn replacing hydro barrier.

    Added walls by red's first spawn door and extended the walkway above it.


    Readded the first vent exit by CP 2.

    Closed up quite a bit around CP 3.
    -Made earlier scaffolding high-ground a solid block.

    -The lower dropdown area under CP 3 is now closed off as a one way drop down to the ramp up.

    Added a doorway from the highground around CP 3 into highground on CP 4.
    Said highground around CP 4 is more connected and easier used for flanking or defending.

    CP 4 is closed off quite a bit more and far less open making for more of an "arena" around the final point.

    Added a platform near the ramp around the deathpit to allow players to exit the ramp, making it less of a deathtrap.
    Have attempted to optimize the area around CP 4 a bit. Should help the FPS, but only testing will tell.
    LOTS of thanks to Boylee and Nutt for their specific and helpful feedback as well as everyone who has playtested it.

    I uploaded the latest version to the maplab, but I'm seeing some missing textures.
    Like the wirefence on the bottom of the screenshot and the two barricades on the right side of the first cp.
    Did I screw up the upload or have they been missing before?


    OK I just deleted my own a3 and copied the dropbox dl into my own map folder. After creating my own server I still see the missing textures, on later stages there are quite a few more missing.

    BTW I think the closed gate on the left of the first cp, that opens once the point is capped, may create some gameplay problems.
    Because it is the first one you see after leaving the red spawn you gravitate towards it only to find it closed.

    CHANGES:

    Removed the stairs from the area behind CP2 to the flooded basement.

    Added a ramp on the far corner of CP3's area.

    Removed the lower area under CP3.

    Moved Red's spawnroom by CP4 farther back.



    Redid much a few areas around CP4.

    Added a small rollback zone before the final cap.

    Moved red's spawn for CP2 to the lab area (around CP3).

    Added a ramp up to the high ground with rebar around CP3.
    Removed some setup doors to the area around CP3.

    Moved blue's old respawn room to be used as a detail area.

    PL_Corrode is finally released after 3.5 months of work! It's a single stage Payload map in the style of Badwater/Upwards. It consists of 4 "stages:"

    I cannot decide where to put red's spawn during CP 2. If anyone has any ideas, feel free to draw them on this.

    Edit: Nevermind, I've decided where. Going tor release a5a in a few minutes.
