    Machinima Excellence

There's alot of crap machinima on the web. Lets start this thread to collect the good stuff. Pack it full of it.
Post one vid per post - just because I'd like to be able to quickly see how many we've collected. I have a project planned that will use all of them ; it will involve various game data collection sites, youtube and google - in a mash up web app based around geeky creativity.....can't say any more or i'll have to shoot you.

I'll start.....love this moody piece by Jamesy. Impressed to see it's the 2nd hit when you type Cloudy Now in youtube Not suprised though - really stunning. If I could post twice, it would be End of the World. Oh wait. I can - in a second post I know it seems biased cos it's 'our Jamesy' but frankly, and honestly, these two are the only 2 that i go back and watch regularly - no doubt in part because they are by a mate - but equally due to the way they coherently capture the mood depicted in the songs.

    God I love Freeman's Mind.
Basically just a guy playing through Half-Life, providing Gordon's thought processes and reactions to everything. Hilarious stuff.

That's actually why I was asking about series'. Freeman's mind is great.
Also check out Civil Protection by the same guy:

Personally I love it for it's randomness. That and it's got Dave.

Mind if I park my very own creation in here?

I'll just link one of my vids, this is the longest one I've done and the most complex (in terms of shots). I was limited with time and knowledge so it's good but not great, although I think I managed to create something unique.

Let me know what you guys think.

That looks pretty neat! At least the first couple of minutes I have to to watch before I shoot off to work anyhow. I shall check out the rest later.

    Nicely done.
I found myself getting a little bored during the character intros, but I'm glad I continued watching.
I also found myself tiring of the later parts after about 12 mins, maybe it would have been better with some voice-overs, but ofc that takes a lot more work.
Some of the camera shots were very nice and the blending from view to view was good most of the time too. Some of the shots where the camera was moving then stopped for the cars to fly by were rather jarring though, they needed to be smoother imo, though camera options in GTA are probably rather limited without some scripting I'd imagine.
The music sync was really good, and a nice selection of music (well, I liked it anyway ). But the audio levels on the voices were a bit off which was a little disappointing, not the end of the world though.

Other than that though, awesome video The Trackmania style layout and pretty surreal plot was very interesting, some of the moves during the intros were good too (even though that bit did drag a little )
So, well done, I've heard GTA isn't too easy for machinima so grats on making it look so good

    Re: Machinima Excellence

Thanks for the feedback, the story is absurd and the character intros are too long... but if you've ever played GTA 4 at length you'll appreciate how difficult it is to drive fast

Unfortunately camera scripting wouldn't work for a race, it's just too unpredictable to adhere to specific timings, I even have stage 2 done and have had it for some time, but I just don't have the time along with 3 mates with the time also.

I did intend to do a Bond style chase through the city using an ENB mod to make it look gorgeous, but it would take a lot of work to set up and I'll have to wait for my mate to get off BT failband so we can actually add traffic and pedestrians and not have a total lagfest.

Yeah saw that on the BF facebook feed, actually one of the only good videos they've posted, lots of thought went into it and it certainly kept me watching
