What music do you adore? What moves you to tears or brings your mood up no matter what?

    Post it in here

I like editors songs, they're moody, fast and the singers voice is completely unique

Atmosphere by Joy Division. I'm pretty much an optemist - but we all have our lows. Not on the scale of Mr Curtis thank feck!

and when I want to feel 'real good' I listen to anything by Bobbi Humphrey,

Blacks & Blues (title track) (1973) - such a jam!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6wkHpwS54Y

or the Blackbyrds - their entire catalogue is a joy.
    Rock Creek Park
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9YgWDMsAEI

    or Earth Wind and Fire
Fantasy - too much choice tbh - so i'll post the obvious

Having had an unanswered love last month, the song "Forever more" from Moloko has even more meaning to me.

    Spiralling - Keane
I just like listening to it.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-LZ7yH-JBM

A Fifth of Beethoven - Walter Murphy
    It's fun.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-9NROp8fdg

If You're Into It - Flight of the Conchords
It's silly but I like the sound.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNBD2sBT5F0

    Fasten Your Seatbelt - Pendulum
This is basically just representing the whole of the album Hold Your Colour by Pendulum, very hard to decide on one, but this has a great beat. (Don't judge that on the intro though)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6LR9PXLq9Y
I renamed on Steam to 784. Madsploitz is a silly name, and was from absolutely ages ago, so I don't use it anymore.

    White Lies

Anyone heard the album? I'm rather enjoying it. Track 01 is my favourite, "Death" with "Unfinished Business" coming in a very close second:

There are some days when I am happy to be alive. The fact that we are all living in a miracle. There are other days where I see all the pain and the suffering in the world.

Here are a few songs that help me contemplate all the things that just shouldn't be:

    Keane - A Bad Dream
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTNbZDSWkuI

Based on what is probably the most beautiful poem ever written; "An Irish Airman Foresees His Death" by W.B. Yeats. It really sends a shiver down my spine, and I even forget that it is by Keane!

It reminds me of my grandparents, of all the people my age who willingly signed up to war. It reminds me of when I went to see the beaches and graveyards of Normandy and northern France. It reminds me of how lucky we all are that we aren't in such a situation, that the biggest worry in my life is that I might miss the bus or hand some homework in late.

Hands Held High - Linkin Park
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMYctamYBVM
Not really sure why, I love his style of rapping - the lyrics are truely inspiring and thought provoking. I don't care if Linkin Park are an angry "I hate my parents" band, trying to be political - I like the song.

Today Won't Go Down In History - Enter Shikari
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3JukEdKIPk
Possibly the sort of song I would sometimes skip when listening to an album, it plays the part of a 3:34 min interlude. I'm not a very spiritual person, but the lyrics of this song transport me away to another level.

Musically, it isn't great, it doesn't mean to be. The lyrics aren't well structured, and don't really have any rythymic qualities, they are subtle suggestions of a situation. The lyrics come from the perspective of a commander (or 'King'), about to send his troops into battle - knowing full well that "Today won't go down in stone". The line is repeated, and so is the prevailing thought that the lives of these men will be in vain, and that in only a decade or so, their existance will have been forgotten.

Maybe I had a very good history teacher, but I read so much into this song, and really see myself in that place. You might say that all this isn't really about the song - and you would probably be right - it is just that concept - that a person can be called to war, have all their hopes and dreams smashed, never grow up to see their children, and ultimately be forgotten.

I'm listening to this group a lot recently. Most are so serene and calming, and many have sentimental meanings for me.
