This is, imho, still one of the greatest musical videos on youtube: Reyn Ouwehand playing an old commodore64 song of Martin Galway (Green Beret)

    Loved that track Mac!
I'm a huge fan of solo ppl doing tracks where they build up the track bit by bit
    Some more (not always my style of music but I still love these performances);

    White Lies

Anyone heard the album? I'm rather enjoying it. Track 01 is my favourite, "Death" with "Unfinished Business" coming in a very close second:

There are some days when I am happy to be alive. The fact that we are all living in a miracle. There are other days where I see all the pain and the suffering in the world.

Here are a few songs that help me contemplate all the things that just shouldn't be:

    Keane - A Bad Dream
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTNbZDSWkuI

Based on what is probably the most beautiful poem ever written; "An Irish Airman Foresees His Death" by W.B. Yeats. It really sends a shiver down my spine, and I even forget that it is by Keane!

It reminds me of my grandparents, of all the people my age who willingly signed up to war. It reminds me of when I went to see the beaches and graveyards of Normandy and northern France. It reminds me of how lucky we all are that we aren't in such a situation, that the biggest worry in my life is that I might miss the bus or hand some homework in late.

Hands Held High - Linkin Park
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMYctamYBVM
Not really sure why, I love his style of rapping - the lyrics are truely inspiring and thought provoking. I don't care if Linkin Park are an angry "I hate my parents" band, trying to be political - I like the song.

Today Won't Go Down In History - Enter Shikari
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3JukEdKIPk
Possibly the sort of song I would sometimes skip when listening to an album, it plays the part of a 3:34 min interlude. I'm not a very spiritual person, but the lyrics of this song transport me away to another level.

Musically, it isn't great, it doesn't mean to be. The lyrics aren't well structured, and don't really have any rythymic qualities, they are subtle suggestions of a situation. The lyrics come from the perspective of a commander (or 'King'), about to send his troops into battle - knowing full well that "Today won't go down in stone". The line is repeated, and so is the prevailing thought that the lives of these men will be in vain, and that in only a decade or so, their existance will have been forgotten.

Maybe I had a very good history teacher, but I read so much into this song, and really see myself in that place. You might say that all this isn't really about the song - and you would probably be right - it is just that concept - that a person can be called to war, have all their hopes and dreams smashed, never grow up to see their children, and ultimately be forgotten.

    *Back to happy Carbon!*

I'm listening to this group a lot recently. Most are so serene and calming, and many have sentimental meanings for me.

Nothing beats em for chilling after a stressful shift. Alternatively you can rage and listen to something like this.

Hey look who found his paper with all his internet passwords scribbled on!

St. Vincent is one of those acts that sounds absolutly amazing live but sounds boring and overproduced on the record.
This version of paris is burning with just an amazingly tuned guitar, her voice and a strong right foot blows the album track out of the water imo.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-24m-KRkn0

Beirut sounds better on CD but I really like the simple way they did this live version of the song. This is why you always take the stairs and not the lift.

Gillian Welch has been kidnapped by evil time travellers from the future and is now making music for our entertainment while trying to find out how to get back to her home, the appalachian mountains in the late 1920s. Well I'm still working on the details of my theory.

The greatest musical invention of the 21st century has to be the video game rock opera.
E.g. The Protomen, when your theme is something silly like the epic struggle between Dr. light and Dr. Wiley, the fall of Protoman and rise of Megaman you can lay on the pathos so thick that it goes right through ridiculous straight into awesome.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sI3xwbPeo0

Man Factory has some catchy tunes about Street fighter II, you can get MP3s of their songs on their MySpace Page. This song shows us that even guys who wrestle bears for fun fall for the strongest girl in the world.

Ok so I have a very strange mood swing and a lot of music effects me.
Call em wierd I don't care.

    Anyways
If i'm having a spur of the moment thing and I want something musically difficult and fantastic I have to watch this

John Petrucci - Under a Glass Moon Solo ( cut from Total Guitar ) I Believe
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSlR90VEKlY
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSlR90VEKlY

For me on a summery day drive in my C-Max

    Pendulum - Sounds Of Life
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_ciY...om=PL&index=29
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_ciYWZrXIs

for me its got the upbeat natural feel and then when it kicks in about 15 - 20 sec's in, I feel like doing 80 down the motorway with the windows down and music turned up.

Bit of a piss up, going back to the old days for me has to be

Fresh Prince & Jazzy Jeff - Boom Shake Shake The Room..
    TICK
    TICK

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQ_b0MBVLWA
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQ_b0MBVLWA

    BOOM

Another one that gets me going is
    Rednex - Cotton Eye Joe

( cant find the version I know )

Lastly K7 - Come Baby Come
    Sorry about the video

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHfNaSQo-98
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHfNaSQo-98

If i'm in a fine mood already and I just want to feel like i'm the man who owns a truck I whip out my Guitar and jam to the rythm of:
Mr Big - Daddy, Brother, Lover Little Boy (Electric Drill Song)

If you can find original its fantastic
    http://video.google.co.uk/videosearc...oy&hl=en&emb=0

but for now that will have to do...

My latest 'totally spazz out to while house cleaning' song.
This isn't the official video but the editing in this fan made version is absolutly glorious.
