Gauging Interest: Battle Royale Night

Just posting to see if anyone would be interested in a one (or two if needed) night event where we play a battle royale game.

All players are spawned in random positions on a varying sized map (suitable for the amount of players involved)
No health regeneration, golden apples are only source of health
Going into the nether is allowed.
Last man standing is the winner.

No. It's about getting as much gear together as you can and trying to win in a short time, not a simple hunt other people down and kill them.

It's necessary if you want to be able to sprint and don't want to start losing health at 0 hunger. It will not regenerate health when your hunger is full.

If a map could be implemented with a reasonable refresh rate (and positions recorded, ideally), that would look totally freakin' sweet.

This sounds really fun!
But I can just see a few problems, wouldn't you be able to just sit underground until everyone but one other is dead and then come out? It seems a bit unfair if you are able to just hide the whole time and then pop out with full diamond stuff. Plus one other thing, I say there should be a set amount of days for people to run and get away, so that it's not just a huge punching brawl as soon as everyone spawns.

And with the food thing, are you saying if you reach 0 hunger, you're not allowed to eat to full?

No, you should still endeavour to keep full food (Well, not no food), but the game will be modded so you don't regenerate. I think...

One way around this would be to implement a system of "neck creepers" that each player is forced to wear. If the player doesn't vacate a designated sector of the map when the neck creeper starts hissing at a predetermined time, then it explodes. Killing them, as explosions do.

I don't much about casts, but I think a minecraft one would be pretty difficult. As you can't swap between viewing players. The only way I can think of is by using a creative character to fly about. But then again, it would be pretty difficult to find people without giving them away. Say if you watch the stream, you could find where someone is mining and go and kill them. It would be great to do a stream, but I would find if hard to do.

yes, if you really wanted, you could. I would have assumed the playstuff folk would be friendly enough to know when they are pushing it a bit, every movement will be monitored and I can intervene if needed but it's a valid tactic.

like I said, spawns will be random throughout the world, players will not be spawning on top of each other.

i'm not saying anything about being allowed to eat, you can eat when you want. having a full hunger bar will not regenerate your health though.

this will be on a totally fresh world, no starting items for anyone.

don't worry about casting, none of this is going to be an issue, we have plans for it all.

Will there be a system for private chat? I can see people teaming up temporarily, but that would require some kind of private chat, or a system that broadcasts messages to nearby players only to prevent cheating

I don't know how much we can actually do to stop it but I would hope that everyone involved would be trustworthy not to do it. It's about the last man standing, I don't think it should be allowed.

I'm presuming that environmental deaths would mean an instant out? It makes sense that they should, however I'm fairly sure that I wouldn't be in the game too lon..Equinoxo hit the ground too hard.
