I took some wav files out of the TF2 sound gcf file on wednesday and they worked no problem, Thursday I come home from work and got a few more, but now they dont work?? Ive even took the same sound files and yet they dont work, can anyone take a look cos its baffling me is it just my pc or has valve done something with the sfx files...
Assuming you're using GCFScape, it's not just you. The latest update made the tf2 gcf files too large to work with GCFScape (>4Gb), and so nothing you try to extract will work just now.

I never had problems with TF2 sounds, the ones I grabbed some time ago work fine, but that's what they're expected to... As for exporting anything now, when I try to open tf2 content.gcf with GCFscape it says "Corrupt file. The file map is not within file bounds." - and it hasn't been working since at least engineer update(although everything in game works fine, no problems with steam file checking) Sorry then, it seems I'm unable to look at it :/

if you install the tf2 dedicated server on your local PC, it will download all sounds as wav.

Mac, does it automatically download new sounds? Like new domination lines or for example HHH sounds...?

the windows dedicated server is not updating automatically. You'll need to use a commandline commando to do that.
(not @home, so cannot find the proper command atm)
GCFscape has been updated, you should now be able to extract the sounds files again.

Whenever I open up the tf2 sound files from the gcf only some of them work while others just won't open and are denied by every player. the weird thing is though. they are all .wav files. PLEEZ HELP ME
