personally i'd find that inpractical - i find it annoying enough using a phone that slides a keypad down. I've owned two - with latches - the latch always wears and the phone always slides open by mistake.

Well this thread has reminded me of something Lenovo presented some weeks ago, it may not have Apple's shinyness but I think it may be even better, if the software part is done right.

im not a fan of the ipad, but design wise, this has a lot more going for itit shows a potential iMac-style stand which would turn the MacView into a desktop computer, dock (with charging) or a simple LCD picture frame. A keyboard and mouse would use Bluetooth to connect naturally.
the downside would be the price...
desktop mac retail + ipad retail x 3 (exchange rate through the bank of apple) = you're 'avin a laugh aint ya!

Have you used one then?
I'm reserving judgement till I get my hands on one to test - since i'm presuming it's extreme usability and streamlined software architecture will be the appealling thing.
And design wise - neither of them come close - they're simply similar. Since design has to take into account economics as well as functionality and looks, there is nothing yet that truely compares to the ipad
They're going up against the Kindle, the sony reader .... all the other wannabe electronic newspapers.
The two above are just new takes on a laptop.
