out of all the brand fry/apple comments, i found this the most interesting

yeah - in that the chip is the least interesting thing about it![]()
all out war? getting interesting. i personally think it's pretty shit that it doesn't support flash. and pointless. within days of release jailbreaking will ensure workable flash i'd have thought - and we shouldnt have to jailbreak products to release their full potential.

I'm glad it doesn't support Flash. Flash is a diabolical waste of CPU processing that was coded by drunken monkeys. Though I think the iPad seems like a niche product in comparison to a netbook (no multitasking? no thanks.) it will be popular and maybe, just maybe, Apple will add HTML5 support to iPad's Safari and that'll make Chrome, Opera, and Safari support plugin-less video streaming through H.264.
I say this because Youtube videos can now be streamed via HTML5 (with more sites surely to follow suit) and with more devices running alternative OSes which don't run Flash particularly well due to poor support from Adobe, I can only hope that Flash slowly declines whilst the open-source standard takes over.

I made Nightfall and Lighthouse.
afaik, flash want to develop for the mac, its apple who are being the bully boys here,
probably something to do with creative licence (pay me a shit load of money and i'll think about it )
flash CS5 actually has settings for the iphone etc etc
*googles to back the facts up :/
hmm just realised i sound as bad as the cretins on the flash blog

totally. and anyone who buys something like that wants their heads read. it's the ease of use and portability coupled with great design and a HUGE software support base that make this special.
Got to love Stephen Fry, such a way with words
After seeing it on t'news site, and after trying to find a site which obviously wasn't either Apple hating OR Apple loving, I gave up. It appears you just have to read both perspectives and make your own mind up. Not quite sure where this product fits in though. Videos of the guy reading the news on it looked nice, but to read news it is mighty expensive.
How much does it weigh? A kilo? Has anyone stood with a bag of sugar in hand to see what that's like? I wouldn't hold it for more than a few mins, so an obligatory stand is required. Only problem then is why the iPad instead of their laptop? I see they've got the additions on show though:

I'm starting to suspect that once all the stuff adds up, you've got yourself a bit of kit that has the touch screen - but otherwise mirrors a laptop, but less functional?
Then again, knowing several people who have a laptop, they don't need the power the laptop gives them because they just read email/surf the internet and chat.
Speaking of which, can you do that on this or can it genuinely only run one application at a time? I'd have thought that would be "the" thing they have to sort out.
Also curious as to how it performs if you start entering passwords. Do you get a giant keypad on screen which is then magnifying under your fingers so everyone can read it?
Can anyone pick it up and do the "slide to unlock" and then access your iPad? How does the iPhone manage this, is it a finger print reader as well?
Looks very nice, just to me, don't see the point. When that becomes a proper laptop type thing then maybe, otherwise it just looks like an expensive way to read/view pictures/listen to music over your existing product...
I find Stephen Fry to be entirely untrustworthy for any opinion on any facet of technology, his fanboyism seems to have replaced any sentiment of considering an alternative to his beloved apple that it is ensured that any tech talk he spouts is brimming with praises and over-hyped jubilations about anything steve jobs happens to place on the table. A coaster? How magical!
Anywho, enough of that, have some Charlie Brooker.

bugger, Seric beat me to it![]()
He's pretty spot on Charlie Brooker. Nothing I disagree with. It will just work, and that's whats going to make it sell alot......something to waste time playing with when you're watching tv.....
If i watched more tele, id snap one up. As it is, i won't be - instead i treated myself to a new battery so my macbookpro now works again after i fried itIt's just arrived - can't wait - been without a lappy for 12 months !
few more facts : multitasking is perfectly do-able on the iphone - as long as you jailbreak. as the ipad has more power, it will come with this already enabled.
it's 500g i think. erm. great psp replacement![]()

Given the name of the iPad, I'm surprised the "pocket" isn't elsewhere located![]()
