    Left 4 Dead 2 Demo - a first look.

Absolutely superb Just played through with Jim. Tense. More serious atmosphere. Less Scooby Doo, more Grisley zombie b movie.

The AI is noticably much better - the attacks in advanced mode were relentless and cunning. The lighting is genius - the presence of bright sunlight in places and shadows elsewhere isn't an obvious setting for a zombie game, but it adds to the eery atmosphere, with a sense of realism.

The new undead are wicked - the charger is devastating. The Melee weapons are varied and scattered throughout - from frying pans to machettes and battons.

chuckable boomer bile scares me - as does the spitter. All the undead look far more scarey and the particle effects are noticably far improved - blood spatter can be gross, especially using the machette. One particularly nice touch is the 'trooper' zombies - who can only be killed from behind.

Great fun on first play. Now i'm hungry for the whole game. Can thoroughly recommend it. A huge leap on from L4D1. Just gutted you the demo finishes just as you find an AK47!

Just played through a couple of times on single player (normal then advanced), really enjoyed it.

All the new stuff seems pretty cool, especially the mêlée weapons. I love the frying pan and the guitar. Also, the incendiary and explosive ammo mentioned in the help bits sounds interesting.

I thought the chargers were easy at first when I just sidestepped it's charge, but the guy behind me wasn't thinking the same. Spitters seem very dangerous as well.

And I wonder what the realism mode is like?

And yeah, pity they haven't got it (or versus) in the demo. Far as I know it turns off all the glowy effects for team mates and items, making communication much more important. Also, I believe head shots are more important. (Source: http://www.straight.com/article-2660...zombie-killers Don't know how trustworthy it is, but it sounds plausible.)

Loving the game so far, though only had chance for about an hour on it. It's quite improved over number 1, and just the sheer amount of extra stuff and new content is amazing. Was amazed to find the defibrillator is a real item, not a hoax. Don't know which slot it takes however, didn't pay attention. The boomer bile grenades are great, and the bulletproof zombies are annoying, especially when they take point on a charge of infected against you. Can't wait to try playing as the new special infected in versus

Just because you said it doesn't make it a fact. Stephen Fry saying it makes it a fact.

Defib takes up the main medic pack slot. Works a treat though and revives teammate to 50% health

I can't help to wonder, will Depeche Mode have a bigger role?
Maybe they might do a cameo as the Midnight Riders, in the Dark Carnivale finale. That would simply be awesome

I had some great problems with the game locking up for a couple of seconds after every 20 seconds. Highly annoying. Running fine for 20 secs, hangs 5 secs, running fine, ...
Need to investigate to see if it is always so or just once...

Had my first bash last night.
    Loved it.
    Did two runs throughs.
Apart from the new maps and weapons, not a huge amount of difference. It looked prettier but I've upgraded my pc since I last played L4D. New zombies are cool (but the police one that you have to shoot in the back annoys me already - due to my own incompetency though)
The biggest difference was playing on a daytime level - I liked that it wasn't really dark.
